(My son reading Darth by Julieann Wallace via Skype)
Is your child beginning to say words and point to pictures in books?
Is your child retelling their favourite books?
Is your child reading levelled readers?
Is your child learning information from non-fiction books?
Is your child learning to read with expression?
Regardless, of your child’s reading stage of development, video calling is a great way for your child to practise their reading, gain confidence in their ability and share their reading successes.
Simply find a friend or family member who has a device (Personal Computer, iPad, Smart Phone, Tablet) you are able to be connected to with video calling.
Ask your child to choose a book to read, they may like to practise first.
This book may be at their reading ability or an easier book which they can practise their fluency and expression.
Organise a time for a ‘Book Reading Session’.
I am not ‘tech savvy’ instead I have found sites which explain the best video calling devices for your Personal Computer or your Smart Phone.
With how quick technology is developing, I have made sure both articles are from 2015….although who knows what 2016 has in store for video calls.
Safe Tricks listed their top 5 video calling software
- iChat (Mac OS)
- Google + Hangout
- Facebook Video Chat
Please feel free to leave a message in the comments box if your feel there are better options for video calling which you wish to share with my followers.
